The RMP Promise

Rocky Mountain Prep is a movement of educators, families, scholars, and advocates committed to changing public education in Colorado by democratizing college access for historically marginalized students and families. We operate twelve college-preparatory schools serving students from early childhood through twelfth grade, and we are fundamentally a world-class learning organization that invests deeply in every educator who joins us. Teachers engage in ongoing coaching and professional development, supported by clear expectations, transparent feedback, and opportunities to strengthen their craft and advance along individualized career pathways grounded in our PEAK values. Rooted in a culture of rigor and love, RMP promises to coach, develop, and champion every team member so they can do their best work and grow as professionals, people, and leaders.

Our Approach to Physical Education

At Rocky Mountain Prep, Physical Education is more than movement; it is a foundation for whole-child development. We believe physical wellness, teamwork, and resilience are critical components of academic and life success. Our PE teachers design their own standards-aligned curriculum and authentic performance tasks that require students to demonstrate mastery through real-world application—such as leading team challenges, setting and tracking fitness goals, and collaborating to solve movement-based problems. These tasks are rigorous, collaborative, and reflective, inviting students to analyze their growth, respond to feedback, and celebrate milestones in strength, skill, and sportsmanship. Teachers create developmentally appropriate experiences that build confidence, foster social-emotional learning, and promote lifelong fitness habits. Through engaging games, structured routines, and public celebrations of growth, students develop motor skills, self-discipline, and goal-setting strategies. Our approach centers joy and inclusion, ensuring every child—regardless of ability—feels challenged, supported, and proud of their progress in body, mind, and spirit.

  • Design and deliver engaging, standards-aligned PE curriculum and authentic performance tasks that require students to demonstrate mastery of motor skills, fitness concepts, and teamwork through real-world application.
  • Create rigorous, collaborative, and inclusive learning experiences that build physical literacy, resilience, and confidence for all students.
  • Develop clear criteria for success for performance tasks—aligned to Colorado state standards—and use rubrics, exemplars, and reflection tools to clarify expectations and measure growth.
  • Differentiate instruction and performance tasks to ensure equitable access, challenge, and measurable progress for students of all abilities.
  • Integrate structured opportunities for student reflection, goal-setting, peer feedback, and celebration of growth in physical performance and sportsmanship.
  • Foster a classroom culture rooted in joy, safety, teamwork, and perseverance, explicitly teaching leadership and conflict-resolution skills.
