Middle School Principal - Noel Campus
Rocky Mountain Prep - Noel
Location: Metro Denver (Far Northeast Denver)
Reports to: Executive Director of Schools
Competitive Salary Range: $115,000-$160,000.
About Rocky Mountain Prep
Rocky Mountain Prep (RMP) is a network of 12 public charter schools in the Denver metro area serving just over 5,100 students from early childhood through 12th grade. We are committed to providing an education that is rigorous, affirming, and grounded in strong relationships.
We believe equity means ensuring every child has access to what they need to thrive, not by treating every student the same, but by meeting them where they are, honoring who they are, and challenging them to grow.
At RMP, we work to create learning environments where high expectations are paired with deep belonging, where both students and adults are seen, supported, and stretched. Our schools are guided by our PEAK values (Perseverance, Excellence, Adventure, and Kindness), which live in both how we teach and how we lead.
The Opportunity
This is a principalship for a leader ready to guide a school through reimagination, not as a blank slate, but as a place in motion.
RMP-Noel is evolving. It has already begun a purposeful redesign centered on strong instruction, student belonging, and adult sustainability. Your role will be to build on what has been started, bringing coherence to systems, consistency to culture, and clarity to the path forward.
You’ll step into a school with committed educators, early indicators of student growth, and a leadership team actively engaged in change. This work is not about rescue. It’s about refinement, direction, and a steady, human-centered approach to school transformation.
We’re looking for someone who leads with both urgency and humility— someone who can hold complexity, navigate change, and build trust across diverse teams. The school community doesn’t need promises or platitudes; they need a grounded leader who can listen deeply, act decisively, and sustain momentum over time.
Why We’re Hiring Early
We are looking to hire RMP-Noel’s next principal in January 2026—up to 6 months before the formal launch of the 2026–2027 school year. This intentional runway is about observation, listening, and learning, integration, and forward planning.
Meaningful school transformation requires trust, time, and preparation, not a sink-or-swim start.
In your first semester, you will have space and support to:
- Build relationships with students, families, and staff— getting to know people before making big decisions
- Learn the school’s current structures, systems, and improvement plan— understanding what’s in motion and why
- Partner with the current Executive Principal and external consultants— gaining insight into current strategies and conditions for learning
- Observe instruction and culture with a fresh perspective— identifying assets, gaps, and growth opportunities
- Connect with district and community stakeholders— building context and credibility across partnerships.
This onboarding period is not just about easing your transition; it’s about setting you up for lasting success. By the time you lead Summer PD and launch the next school year, you will be known, trusted, and ready.
Strategic Context
RMP-Noel is in the early stages of a comprehensive school redesign. The work is grounded in a bold, practical School Improvement Plan shaped by six core pillars:
- Instructional Rigor and Teacher Development
- Leadership Coaching and Systems Alignment
- Shared Expectations and Adult Culture
- Student Culture and Belonging
- Family Partnership and Community Trust
- Staff Stability and Retention
The plan is focused on improving results swiftly with strategy and care. We are working to accelerate growth by the end of this school year, and we are looking for a leader to carry that momentum forward, sustaining and expanding progress into the years ahead.
What You’ll Lead
Instruction and Academic Systems
- Align curriculum, assessments, and instruction to ensure all students— especially multilingual learners and students with disabilities— have access to grade-level content
- Lead data cycles that are precise, purposeful, and action-oriented, driving meaningful gains in both student achievement and teacher practice
- Coach teachers with clarity and urgency, providing regular feedback and modeling what strong instruction looks and feels like
- Partner with your APs and academic coaches to refine intervention systems, plan re-teaching structures, and elevate instructional quality across all classrooms
School Culture and Climate
- Develop a consistent school culture that blends high expectations with psychological safety and belonging
- Ensure that students experience clear routines, identity-affirming practices, and meaningful relationships
- Partner with the culture team to embed restorative practices, develop student leadership, and foster joyful, engaging school experiences
- Rebuild adult culture with shared norms, relational trust, and accountability that support growth and results
Operations and Resource Alignment
- Oversee staffing and resource use to maximize alignment with school goals
- Manage budgets, compliance, and operational systems with a focus on clarity and sustainability
- Lead your school with visibility and presence– being in classrooms, hallways, and community spaces, not just meetings
Talent and Team Development
- Build and retain staff who believe in students, welcome feedback, and want to get better every year
- Develop leadership capacity at every level— APs, teacher-leaders, etc., so the work is not dependent on one person
- Create an environment where adults feel challenged, respected, and invested in the vision
- Partner with your Executive Director of Schools and Network Support Team to scale what works and navigate what’s hard
What You Bring
We are not looking for a hero; we are looking for a leader who:
- Has successfully improved student outcomes, especially in high-need, high-potential settings
- Brings deep instructional knowledge and the ability to coach for both content and culture
- Leads with strategy and empathy, holding people accountable with care and clarity
- Understands equity not just as a belief, but as a practice— designing systems that respond to the lived realities of students
- Can build trust with staff, engage families with respect, and navigate district and community dynamics with professionalism
- Is steady in the face of complexity, humble in the face of challenge, and joyful in the presence of kids
- Has staying power— the commitment to see the work through and build something that lasts
What You’ll Receive
As a turnaround principal, you will be surrounded by strong partners and support.
- Onboarding support and executive coaching from your Executive Director of Schools and the current Executive Principal
- Instructional and operational support from your Network Support Team
- External expertise from school improvement partners and consultants
- Flexibility to shape your staffing model and structures
- Shared responsibility for family and community engagement
- Relocation support and/or signing bonus may be available for the right candidate
We know turnaround work is challenging, so you won’t go at it alone!
