Role Mission

This role will be split between English Language Development (50%) and Gifted & Talented coordination (50%), with adjustments based on student needs. The ELD component centers on helping middle school Multilingual Language Learners (MLLs) develop their English skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing using culturally responsive practices and the E.L. Achieve curriculum. As the GT Coordinator, this role will identify and provide regular push-in and pull-out support for gifted students, oversee Advanced Learning Plans (ALPs), use data to identify and monitor GT students and provide professional development for teachers. The ideal candidate is passionate about equity, inclusion, and academic excellence, ensuring that all students receive rigorous, joyful, and empowering instruction, whether needing additional support or advanced opportunities. Collaboration with teachers, families, and school leaders will be essential to fostering an environment where every scholar thrives.

  • Be consistently punctual and prepared for all lessons, coaching sessions, staff meetings, and other professional obligations (such as PD, parent-teacher conferences, etc).

  • Foster strong relationships with families through consistent communication, home visits, and engagement in school events, embracing each family's unique perspectives and promoting inclusion and diversity
  • Model and embody RMP’s PEAK values (Perseverance, Excellence, Adventure, and Kindness) in all interactions with scholars, families, and staff.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, special education teachers, and support staff to deliver grade-level content and targeted interventions for all students.
  • Participate in and contribute to school-wide initiatives, professional development, and student and staff recruitment efforts.
  • Support school operations by assisting with daily duties such as arrival, dismissal, and lunch, ensuring a smooth, safe, and organized learning environment.
  • RMP is fast-paced and data-driven. Your role combines clear expectations but also requires flexibility to adapt and contribute to our evolving Concept Essence.
 

 GT/ELD Teachers at Rocky Mountain Prep will:

  • Teach daily English Language Development (ELD) in individual and small group settings, using the E.L. Achieve curriculum to develop scholars’ reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
  • Adapt instruction for varying proficiency levels, ensuring all students receive the linguistic support needed to meet high academic expectations.
  • Monitor and analyze student progress using assessments and data platforms like Illuminate to inform instruction and interventions.
  • Create a culturally responsive classroom that fosters a positive, engaging, and rigorous learning environment where all scholars feel valued and supported.
  • Oversee the Gifted & Talented (GT) program, including identifying new students, ensuring proportional representation, and maintaining Advanced Learning Plans (ALPs) in Infinite Campus.
  • Provide direct support for GT students, offering individual and small group instruction aligned to ALP goals.
  • Lead parent meetings and teacher collaboration, ensuring strong communication and support for scholars in ELD and GT programs.
  • Deliver professional development (PD) for teachers on identifying and serving GT students while providing ongoing support to implement ALPs effectively.
  • Collaborate with school teams and district liaisons to align best practices and ensure that all students receive the academic and emotional support they need to succeed.
 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 3 years of full-time K-8 lead teaching experience that involves literacy instruction (ex., homeroom teacher, literacy teacher, interventionist, or special education teacher)
  • During the application process, you must provide student data demonstrating that you have led students to 1.5 years of reading growth in a single school year and/or high levels of mastery on state tests or standards-based assessments.
  • Be able to provide an official transcript demonstrating graduation from an undergraduate institution.n
  • Provide evidence of passing the Praxis 5001 exam or CO teaching license
  • Willingness to take district PDUs or other coursework on serving Gifted students
  • Pass a background check & demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States
  • We use E-Verify to confirm all new hires' identity and employment eligibility.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience implementing a literacy intervention program with fidelity (e.g. Wilson Reading system)
  • Specialized training in research-based literacy intervention (e.g., Orton-Gillingham)
  • Experience with tiered instruction as a dedicated literacy interventionist in an elementary school
  • Reading specialist endorsement, Special Education endorsements, and/or CLDE endorsement on an active CO teaching license
  • Completion of CDE READ Act training and/or CDE Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CLD) 45 contact hours
  • Experience working with linguistically and culturally diverse students and families
  • Experience working with students on Advanced Learning Plans
  • Coursework or PRAXIS certifications on working with students identified as Gifted
  • Bilingual English & Spanish
 

Compensation and Benefits 

  • Salary: Full-time position with a salary range of $60,000 to $89,000, based on experience and qualifications.
  • Benefits: Includes health insurance (medical, dental, vision), disability insurance, life insurance, PERA retirement, and paid time off.
